Speaker: Eva Wong Nava is an award-winning author. She was born on a tropical island where a merlion guards its inhabitants from marauding pirates. During the 18th century, her ancestors sailed from the Middle Kingdom, braving monsoon winds and rains, to the Southern Seas settling in Nusantara. There they planted roots, started businesses and families. In the 20th century, her relatives set sail again. This time for the northern hemisphere where they learned to live with snow storms and hail.

Eva writes stories inspired by her childhood in Southeast Asia, filling her tales with magic, historical lore, and wonder. She lives in the Land of Albion, where she calls London home.
