Join us at Farnham Library on Friday 5th September 10.30am- 11.30am as Francis Gooding talks to us about his forthcoming book.
Francis Gooding's The Script of the Stones (Atlantic, forthcoming 2026) is a close reading of landscape and history on the South Gower cliffs. Part natural history and part memoir, the book takes inspiration of from the psychogeography of Iain Sinclair and W. G. Sebald and the nature writing of J. A. Baker and Nan Shepherd to drill down into the relationships between human beings and other organic things, from soil and stone to flowers and birds. The Script of the Stones is his first trade book.
About the speaker:
Francis Gooding is a writer and Contributing Editor at the London Review of Books, a regular columnist for The Wire, and Contributing Editor at Critical Quarterly. He has written widely on music, ecology, anthropology, colonial film, and art.
