Event Chair: Professor Richard de Grijs - Professor of Astrophysics at the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia
Professor Richard de Grijs is an internationally acclaimed astronomer, academic trainer and public speaker with over 25 years of professional scientific experience. Richard served as both Scientific Editor of The Astrophysical Journal and Deputy Editor of The Astrophysical Journal Letters for over a decade. He is currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Astronomical History and Heritage and he was the founding director of the East Asian Office of Astronomy for Development (2012--2016), an institution under the auspices of the International Astronomical Union. Professor de Grijs also served as Associate Dean (International) of Macquarie University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering between 2018 and 2021.

Dr Buna Bhandari - Assistant professor of epidemiology at the Central Department of Public Health , Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine, Kathmandu, Nepal
Dr Buna Bhandari is working as an Assistant professor of epidemiology at the Central Department of Public Health, Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine, Kathmandu, Nepal. She holds a PhD from the School of Population Health, The University of New South Wales, Australia. Over the decades, Buna received multiple grants and awards; some of them includes the Lown Scholar from Harvard University, Australia Awards PhD Scholarship, Research student awards from UNSW, Netherlands Fellowship program, NHRC provincial research grants and many others. She is an Author AID stewards and guest facilitator for an online scientific writing course for more than five years.
She has authored multiple papers in various peer-reviewed indexed journals and published book chapters as well. She also works as a peer reviewer and editor for some journals. Her research interest and expertise include systematic reviews and meta-analyses, epidemiological studies including RCTs on NCDs especially cardiovascular diseases, digital health, maternal and child health issues like domestic violence. When not working, you can find her doing yoga, meditating, and exploring nature.
Dr Farooq Rathore - Consultant and Associate professor in Rehabilitation Medicine at the Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, Rawalpindi, Pakistan
Dr Farooq Azam Rathore is a consultant and Associate professor in Rehabilitation Medicine at the Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, Rawalpindi. He is an AuthorAID mentor and steward.
Dr Farooq is an active researcher with 170 national and international publications. He has been an invited and plenary speaker in national and international conferences. He has won multiple awards and scholarships
He is a peer reviewer for 50 national and international medical journals. He is also editorial board member of 10 Journals. He is the national representative of Pakistan for the International Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ISPRM) and Asia-Oceanian Society of PMR (AOSPRM). He is advisory board member of Cochrane Rehabilitation.
He is passionate about teaching research writing and has conducted more than100 workshops on topics like medical writing, scientific misconduct, research ethics, communication and presentation skills, spasticity management and stroke rehabilitation in 5 countries of the world.
His areas of interest and research are spinal cord injuries, stroke rehabilitation, amputee management, disaster rehabilitation, medical education and Bioethics.
