Join AuthorAID for a webinar discussion on how to be a good mentor. Our experienced keynote speakers will let you in on their mentoring experiences and share tips and advice on being a mentor.
Followed by short talks by our speakers, Dr. Farooq Rathore will be chairing a Q&A session where you can ask your most pressing questions.

Dr Farooq Rathore - Consultant and Associate professor in Rehabilitation Medicine at the Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, Rawalpindi, Pakistan
Dr Farooq Azam Rathore is a consultant and Associate professor in Rehabilitation Medicine at the Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, Rawalpindi. He is an AuthorAID mentor and steward.
Dr Farooq is an active researcher with 170 national and international publications. He has been an invited and plenary speaker in national and international conferences. He has won multiple awards and scholarships
He is a peer reviewer for 50 national and international medical journals. He is also editorial board member of 10 Journals. He is the national representative of Pakistan for the International Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ISPRM) and Asia-Oceanian Society of PMR (AOSPRM). He is advisory board member of Cochrane Rehabilitation.
He is passionate about teaching research writing and has conducted more than100 workshops on topics like medical writing, scientific misconduct, research ethics, communication and presentation skills, spasticity management and stroke rehabilitation in 5 countries of the world.
His areas of interest and research are spinal cord injuries, stroke rehabilitation, amputee management, disaster rehabilitation, medical education and Bioethics.
Keynote speakers:
Dr. Sahibzada Nasir Mansoor is currently working as a Consultant and Head of department Rehabilitation Medicine at Combined Military Hospital, Okara. Dr Sahibzada is a Rehabilitation medicine physician, medical educationist and has interest in pain management and medical and research writing. He completed his fellowship (FCPS) in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) in 2010. He has completed his masters in Pain Medicine from Riphah University in 2015 and membership (MCPS) in Health Professions Education at College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan in 2016. He has authored a book chapter and more than 50 publications in National and International Biomedical journals and has presented more than 35 papers at numerous International and National conferences. He has been invited keynote speaker and has conducted various panel discussions. He is reviewer for more than 18 National and international biomedical journals and reviewer for MS PT program, Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi. He has been a member of scientific committee of Rehabcon 2014 and Rehabcon 2015 and ISPRM 2019. He is Supervisor and Examiner at College of physicians and surgeons Pakistan for postgraduate training in PMR.
Dr. Nasir worked is recipient of Emerging Nations Science Foundation (ENSF) travel grant to present his work at ISPRM 2013 in Beijing, International spinal cord society travel grant 2018 and recipient of the ISPRM educational fund twice. He is Author Aid registered mentor for their mentorship program and has won Author Aid Workshop Grant of 2500 $ to conduct workshops on research and medical writing in Pakistan. Dr. Nasir has conducted more than 40 workshops on research, medical writing and intra articular injections. He is also working as faculty at Department of medical education (DME), College of Physicians and surgeons Pakistan and regularly conducts workshops mandatory for supervisors.
Dorothy Mukhebi - Dorothy serves as Deputy Director, Operations - providing the strategic leadership necessary to achieving AWARD's mission of building a more gender responsive agricultural innovation system. She was previously the Mentoring Coordinator; then Director of Programs at AWARD; where she was instrumental in setting up a vibrant mentoring / fellowship program. She has also supported various partners in establishing mentoring initiatives, using the AWARD model.
She has over 40 years’ experience working with African agricultural networks. Before AWARD, she worked as Coordinator of the Regional Agricultural Information Network (RAIN) of the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA). She started her career as a Planning Officer with the Kenyan Ministry of Agriculture, and later served for 10 years as a Program Manager with the African, Caribbean and Pacific / European Union (ACP/EU) Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), based in Wageningen, the Netherlands. She has also previously worked with the International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), Nairobi, Kenya. Dorothy holds a master’s in information sciences from Loughborough University of Technology, U.K., and a bachelor’s in agriculture from the University of Nairobi.
Dorothy has a Diploma in Coaching (AoEC) 2022.
Dorothy provides strategic advice to various initiative focused on capacity building and working with vulnerable groups.
She is also affiliated with Eider Africa; where she takes part in conceptualizing and designing mentorship programs.
Is a Board member of several community-based organizations working with the elderly and other vulnerable groups.
Her hobbies include reading, travelling, photography and jogging.
