Welcome to Authors in Conversation! Join us for a lively discussion with George Paterson and Peter Bennett in conversation with Elissa Soave at Bothwell Community HUB. Get ready to hear firsthand about their writing process, inspirations, and latest projects. This in-person event is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow book lovers and dive deep into the world of literature.

George Paterson is a writer, broadcaster and musician who, as a member of the bands White and DMP, released a number of well received albums on the Poco Alto Label. He splits his time between the spoken word – his popular weekly ‘Lost in Music’ radio show – and the written. His debut novel, The Girl, The Crow, The Writer And The Fighter was published in 2021 and was nominated for Bloody Scotland Crime Debut Novel of the Year 2022. His second book, Westerwick, published 2023, was nominated for Crime Fiction Lovers Best Indie Novel of 2024.

Peter Bennett is a working-class writer from Glasgow. His debut novel, Liberties, was published in 2022 and extracts from the novel have been published in New Writing Scotland 40, The Selkie, Ghosts of the Early Morning Shift – An Anthology of Radical Prose, Lumpen and the Belfast Review. Peter lives in East Kilbride with his wife and children and is currently working on his second novel.

Elissa Soave won the inaugural Primadonna Prize in 2019. Her first novel, Ginger and Me, was published in 2022, and was shortlisted for the Saltire Society Scottish First Book Award 2023. Elissa was a judge on the Primadonna Prize 2022 and the Curae Prize 2023 and 2025. Her second novel, Graffiti Girls, has just been published, with a third novel, Common Ground, to be published in February 2026.
