Join Sam Leith, author of Write to the Point: How to be Clear, Correct and Persuasive on the Page and Max Décharné author of Vulgar Tongues: An Alternative History of English Slang to discuss their entertaining new books. In Write to the Point, Sam shows how to express yourself fully across any medium, and how to maximise your chances of getting your way in every situation and in Vulgar Tongues, Max reveals the surprising roots of English slang. Together they’ll reveal what makes language good – and bad.

Sam Leith is literary editor at the Spectator, contributes columns to the Financial Times, the Evening Standard andProspect, and his work appears regularly in the Guardian, The Times and the TLS among others. His broadcasting work has included appearances on The Culture Show, The Review Show, Front Row, the News Quiz, Fry's English Delight and a regular slot on the Sky Arts Book Programme. His books include Dead Pets, Sod's Law, You Talkin' to Me? Rhetoric from Aristotle to Obama and The Coincidence Engine.
Max Décharné is an author, songwriter and musician. He has recorded numerous albums and singles, and eight John Peel Sessions as the singer with The Flaming Stars. A regular contributor to Mojo magazine since 1998, his books include Hardboiled Hollywood, King's Road, the jive-talk dictionary Straight From The Fridge, Dad, and A Rocket in my Pocket, a history of rockabilly music (Serpent's Tail 2010).
