Autism: Ageing and the Menopause
Overview
As autistic people age, they often become increasingly invisible - especially autistic women and those assigned female at birth, whose needs are frequently overlooked by services and support systems. Navigating later life can bring unique challenges, and menopause is just one of the significant transitions that can deeply affect health, wellbeing, identity, and daily functioning.
We are delighted to welcome Dr Rachel Moseley (Principal Academic in Psychology, Bournemouth University) for a powerful and insightful session exploring the realities of ageing and menopause through an autistic lens.
In this talk, Dr Moseley will discuss:
- The key challenges facing autistic adults as they grow older
 - Why reproductive transition points , including menopause can be especially difficult
 - Why menopause matters for long-term health and wellbeing
 - What practical steps, strategies, and supports can make a real difference during menopause and beyond

This session is ideal for autistic adults, women and those assigned female at birth, supporters, practitioners, and anyone seeking deeper understanding of autistic ageing and reproductive transitions.
Together, we’ll shine a light on an under-discussed topic, amplify autistic voices, and explore ways to promote dignity, support, and healthier futures.
