Autism and Non-Binary Young People
Overview
Autistic young people are more likely to question or explore their gender identity, and many identify as non-binary. Navigating both autism and gender diversity can bring unique challenges in self-expression, social relationships, and mental health, particularly when facing misunderstanding or lack of support. This webinar will provide insights into the experiences of non-binary autistic young people, highlight the importance of inclusive practice, and share strategies to create supportive environments at home, in school, and in the community.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Understand the intersection between autism and non-binary identities.
- Recognise common challenges non-binary autistic young people may face, including social stress, identity expression, and mental health needs.
- Explore the impact of masking and misunderstanding on wellbeing.
- Identify inclusive strategies to support self-expression and belonging.
- Promote safe, affirming environments in family, educational, and community settings.
I guarantee holistic approach and understanding as I have been through the journey myself.
