Autism & Anorexia

Join us for an informative session looking at anorexia in individuals with autism & the considerations and adjustments that might need to be made to support their autistic profiles. This session is lived evidence based, and lived experience led and aims to offer insights into specific eating difficulties we see for neurodivergent people with anorexia.

Food and eating can be a huge issue for autistic people with and without eating disorders, where we often see sensory issues and anxiety can lead to a person having a very restricted diet.

We also touch on ADHD, because as autism is related to anorexia, ADHD often co-occurs with autism.

Covering:

  • Sensory sensitivities and their role in eating
  • A breif discussion on ARFID vs Anorexia
  • The link between autism, ADHD & Anorexia
  • Factors that impact eating for autsitic people with Anoreixa
  • What helps at home
  • What helps in treatment settings
