It is crucial to understand how the qualitative differences of sensory perception associated with autism affect each particular child.

Parents, teachers, and other professionals who work with autistic children need to recognize sensory differences in autism in order to select appropriate methods and plan intervention for these children.

The day will cover:

- the range of the sensory-perceptual problems faced by individuals with ASDs;

- how to identify and interpret the behaviours caused by sensory-perceptual differences;

- the impact of these difficulties on their thinking, learning and communication styles; - challenging behaviours caused by sensory problems ;

- strategies to help reduce overload and potential triggers at home and at school; as well as tips on how best to understand and respond when an autistic individual experiences meltdown

- treatments and environmental changes that can help individuals overcome these difficulties.
