Step into the world of neurodiversity – gain insight, empathy, and tools for inclusive support.
The Autism Reality Experience (ARE) is a groundbreaking, immersive, and hands-on training session designed to give neurotypical people a genuine insight into the sensory processing challenges faced by those on the autism spectrum.
Developed by Glenn Knight, CEO of Training 2 CARE, in collaboration with over 150 autistic individuals, this powerful experience helps participants to truly grasp the everyday realities that many neurodivergent people live with.
🧠 What to Expect
The Autism Reality Experience goes far beyond theory—it challenges conventional thinking and gives delegates the chance to feel the impact of:
· Hypersensitivity to sound, light, and other sensory inputs
· Sensory overload and the emotional/physical effects it causes
· Proprioceptive hyposensitivity (difficulty sensing your body in space)
· Vestibular hypersensitivity (balance and movement challenges)
· Language processing difficulties, including following instructions
· Inflexibility of thought and the need for routine or structure
· Navigating environments that are not designed to meet your needs
💡 Why It Matters
The Autism Reality Experience doesn’t just inform—it transforms. By using specially designed sensory-altering equipment, delegates are placed into a simulated environment that mirrors the sensory challenges faced by many autistic individuals.
This short, powerful experience is followed by a comprehensive debrief to help you reflect on what you've learned and explore practical changes you can make to your practice, environment, and communication.
🌟 Who Should Attend?
This training is invaluable for anyone working in:
· Health and social care
· Education and early years settings
· Community services and public-facing roles
· Housing and supported living
· HR and leadership roles aiming to foster neuroinclusive workplaces
Whether you're supporting autistic individuals directly or working to shape more inclusive policies and environments, the Autism Reality Experience will leave you with deepened empathy, understanding, and actionable strategies for change.
