For November, we examine the challenge of how to grow, without growing cost:
"Automating without losing soul, the key to productivity, growth and profit"
With Paul Barnes, MD of My Accountancy Place
My Accountancy Place appeared from nowhere just over three years ago. The brainchild of visionary accountant (you don’t hear that term often) Paul Barnes, he was passionate that accountancy could contribute so much more to the growth focussed business leaders in Manchester’s Digital & Creative sectors. Over 130 clients - and multiple awards - later that passion burns brighter than ever
It’s not all been plain sailing though.
Like any business on a steep growth path, Paul knew he needed to balance profit with service levels and resources or risk losing the reputation they have built for delivering exceptional value to their clients.
Paul’s strategy has been to invest in automation to create the optimum blend between digital technology and the personal service only a human can provide. This strategy is now enabling the business to take on more clients, without service levels dropping or needing more people to deliver it. Productivity is on the up.
Paul is convinced this an essential strategy for any service-based business looking to improve productivity, service and profit and he’s going to share his experiences with us at the November Giants Academy
How does the evening run?
After some coffees (or beers) to get us settled in, we will spend sometime with Paul to hear about his experiences and then taking questions to expand the discussion further. The main points are then de-briefed and a short peer-learning activity is set for the Giants to work on in small groups. We then come back together to share the main learnings and each Giant is tasked with identifying the one thing they will take back to the workplace.
We do have a few house rules
- No selling - it's not a battle to pass your card to everyone in the room
- Owners/Senior team only - by keeping it at this level, you can be sure you'll be learning along side your peers
- Have fun & learn something new
What does it cost?
If it's your first time, it's free! If you're returning, then it's £25, but once the cost of tea's and coffees are taken for, the rest goes directly to charity - usually as much as £180 per event.
