CALL FOR ABSTRACTS by 2nd June 2020

We welcome abstracts of 400 words on themes relating to Automation and AI sent to shailen.popat@education.ox.ac.uk by 2nd June 2020. Please send in a brief bio together with the abstract.

Artificial Intelligence is an aspect of software engineering that emphasises the production of intelligent machines that work and respond like people. Artificial intelligence studies how the human brain thinks, learns, decides, and works while trying to solve problems, and then uses this to smarten its software and systems. Automation is going through a rapid change in recent years. With the advent of newer technologies such as IOT, Cloud computing, Machine learning, wireless communication and a host of newer generation sensors and actuators, old standards such as PLC, SCADA and DCS are increasingly being challenged to improve and include newer technologies. More than 60% of today’s industries and factory floors will undergo major overhaul in the next 10 years to reduce manpower and improve productivity. What are the major automation technologies that will become the standard in these future factories?

We invite you to submit abstracts addressing (but are not limited to) the following topics, with clear links to the forum theme:

 Connecting the Bots

 Security in automated manufacturing

 Machine Learning

 Improving Interfaces

 Future Sensors and actuators

 Robotic Automation

 Improving energy efficiency in the future

 Predictive Maintenance

 Internet of Things (IOT)

 Remote and Telerobotics

 Cloud computing and big data

 Autonomous vehicles

 3D printing

 Improving Health and Safety

 Managing the future workforce

On 1st August 2020 we aim to gather academics, practitioners and students to create an approach towards a global exchange of information and look into the future of AI and automation. Conference Fee £100 inc refreshments and conference video.
