Frequently asked questions

What if it rains?

Connecting with nature includes connecting with the elements. Please wear weather appropriate clothing. We will dance as long as the dancers and sound system can be kept safe.

I have mobility issues. Can I park closer?

There is limited on site parking for those who cannot walk from Broompark Picnic Area. Please arrange this in advance with Rachel.

Are there toilets at Abundant Earth?

There are compost toilets on site and rainwater for hand-washing. Please bring drinking water.

What is the ground like?

The field where we will dance is at the top of a bank and therefore drains well. It is relatively flat, but uneven, as you might expect and sheep have been grazing there this summer. We will prepare and rake the ground, however we recommend wearing shoes.

Will it be dark?

The sun will set at 6.30pm on 12 September and 6.17pm on 3 October so we will be dancing in twilight. There will be some, mainly decorative lighting in the dance space and firelight after the dance but you will need a torch for other areas and when leaving

I've never danced 5Rhythms before. Is this event ok for beginners?

The dancing is open to people with any amount of experience, but if you want to know more before you come, check out this video, in which I talk through a 5Rhythms wave: https://youtu.be/MonI_1BSOYI

How do I get to Abundant Earth?

The number 43 bus stops a short walk away, at the (now closed) Loves pub. You can also cycle there along the Deerness Valley Way (the Lines). If you are driving, please park at Deerness Picnic Area ansd walk along the Lines until you come under the railway bridge. See https://youtu.be/-9PynHuQAh4

Will there be music?

We will dance to an eclectic mix of recorded music, beginning gently, building to a crescendo, and subsiding into stillness.
