Join bird expert John Clark for a guided walk on the gravel paths around Testwood Lakes. This amazing nature reserve is a hidden wildlife haven amongst the urban fringe of Totton. The reserve is owned by Southern Water and managed by the Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust. It is a mixture of open water, grassland and woodland. The lakes support hundreds of over wintering wildfowl and waders, whilst there are many woodland birds away from the open water. We should see birds such as teal, wigeon and shovelers as well as great white egrets and tufted duck from the hides overlooking Meadow Lake. We may be lucky and catch a glimpse of a kingfisher hunting for fish. We will be watching for birds arriving for the coming winter months as well as those passing through on their way to warmer climates.
