Celebrate the Autumn Equinox in Talbot Woods Join us on Saturday 13 September at Slades Park Pavilion Café for a creative family workshop, a woodland procession, and magical fireside storytelling — a joyful afternoon for all ages.

As the first whispers of autumn rustle through the trees, we’ll gather together to welcome the changing season.

2–3:30 pm – Wind Mobile Workshop Rosie from CoCreate will guide you in making colourful wind mobiles — perfect for capturing the breezes of the new season. £3 per person, booking essential.

4 pm – Procession & Fireside Storytelling We’ll leave the café together in a cheerful procession into Talbot Woods. Around the campfire, storytellers Martin Coyne and Dorset’s playful duo Warrow and Wurzle will lead us on an interactive adventure to help the Wind find his way home. Expect whooshes, hoots, and giggles in this celebration of nature, friendship, and imagination. Free and open to everyone.

Frequently asked questions

A fire you say...what about marshamallows?

The event will end around 5pm. You are welcome to stay longer, and might like to bring marshmallows or similar to toast over the fire. We will supply some vegan marshmallows and toasting skewers.

What should I wear?

We encourage any fancy dress, or just come as you are. Please be aware the storytelling takes place in the woods so do dress warmly, appropriate to the weather conditions on the day.

Is this a standing or seated event?

While there is some very limited seating available on fallen logs, and you may bring blankets, this is primarily a standing event.

Are there bugs in the woods?

We can sometimes see a few midge in the evenings, so do bring insect repellent if you're susceptible
