About this event
Welcome to Autumn Foraging - Cairngorms!
Whether you're a seasoned wild foodie, or you're a bit unsure about anything beyond the occasional bramble, this class is for you. The emphasis will be on fungi, but we will also cover similarly fascinating plants and tree species that are out and about during the Autumn.
Location details will be sent out before the event (depending what the fungi are up to!) but we will be based in one of the forests close to Grantown-on-Spey. We'll take a stroll through the woods, talking about what we see along the way, and enjoy some snacks made from wild foods! This course welcomes people with all levels of experience (including none at all) with foraging and/or mushrooms. Your instructor will be Cairngorms-based forager Victoria Beall, who has spent years fascinated by fungi and all sorts of wild foods and preparing them into fun and creative meals, pickles, tinctures, and even candy. In addition to foraging, Victoria serves as a board member for Rhyze Mushrooms, an urban mushroom farm based in Edinburgh.Instagram: @expore.with.toria

TERMS & CONDITIONSBy purchasing event tickets you agree to the following terms:
SAFETY
Your safety is incredibly important. As such, it is the responsibility of the individual to follow safety instructions that will be provided at the start of the lesson. No wild food should be consumed unless specifically instructed to do so - should the individual fail to comply with this policy, they will receive a warning. If the warning is ignored and another breach of safety contrary to the instructions provided is committed, the individual will be dismissed from the lesson, without refund.
The goal of these lessons is to introduce you to a new way of interacting with the world through food. The cardinal rule of foraging is to never consume something unless you are 100% certain of what it is you are eating. This guideline, as well as other safety instructions, will be provided by Victoria at the start of the lesson, and every effort will be made to ensure that lesson attendees are supervised and safe. However, eating any wild foods is done exclusively at the responsibility and risk of the individual lesson attendee. A small set of people may have sensitivities to new foods, including foraged foods, which can sometimes cause adverse reactions. Any time you are trying a new foraged food for the first time, we recommend to try only a small portion, cooked very well (where appropriate) to see how you will react to that food. Any snacks prepared and offered during the course will be made with foods and materials that have been tested and tried and deemed safe for consumption.
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
You are required to give at least 2 days (48 hours) notice if you are unable to attend an event. Failure to do so will revoke your right to a refund. In the event of extreme extenuating circumstances, please reach out to Victoria directly.
Events will be run rain or shine. If a lesson will be cancelled due to weather, you will be notified 24 hours before the event is due to run. If a lesson is postponed due to adverse weather conditions participants will be booked onto the next available workshop. If a suitable alternative workshop can not be found, a full refund will be given
