About this event

Late summer and Autumn is a time when nature provides many nutrient rich foods to help support us through the winter months. Many fruits are blue, red or purple meaning they are rich in anthocyanidins, with powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory action. We will forage for plants such as elderberry, rosehips, blackberries, hawthorn and sloes. Please bring foraging basket or bag.

We'll head to my home for some warming drinks, snacks and to make or sample:

  • A hedgerow immune tonic for winter health
  • Rosehip syrup
  • Elderberry shrub for autumn cocktails and mocktails
  • An autumn herbal apple cider vinegar

We'll also discuss how best to preserve foraged finds with sea salt, honey, apple cider vinegar or brandy. You get to take home two wildcrafted recipes to try, and a full handout with recipes.

"Thank you for such a wonderful day Jo, you really are so knowledgeable and an amazing person to learn from. Your home is beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to get stuck in to some of the recipes!" (Jessie B)

"The Foraging Workshop was a very enjoyable experience. Whilst harvesting seasonal edible and healing plants in the sunny woods and fields, we were given much information by Joanna - who is extremely knowledgeable about wild plants - and I learnt many new things. Joanna is very generous, and when we got back to the house we were given home made Dandelion cookies and herbal teas using the plants we had bet it foraging, as well as making pesto, tonic vinegar, and tasting delicious wild garlic butter. We were also given an epic handout with lots of information and recipes Very good value, and made new friends."

My aim is for my workshops to be friendly and inclusive places where all are welcome. If you have mobility or other issues which may impact being able to walk across different terrains for an hour please do get in touch to discuss options. Dogs are very welcome on leads on the walking part of the workshop (90 minutes).
