Event description

Description

Followed by Evensong at St Paul’s 5.00– 5.45pm

We often think of prayer as being still and silent, and places of inspiration as being set apart in the quiet beauty of the countryside. But many of us live in the noise and bustle of the city; can we find sacredness in all the busyness of our urban, daily lives?

The word ‘saunter’ comes from the French ‘à la sainte terre’ meaning ‘to the sacred place’. Brian Draper invites us to take our spiritual inspiration as well as our pace from that. This autumn prayer walk will take us through nature, city streets and by water, reflecting on autumnal themes of beauty, change and loss. We will walk about four miles and end at St Paul’s Cathedral for Evensong.

Brian Draper is an experienced retreat leader and spiritual guide, and a regular contributor to Radio 4’s Thought for the Day. His books include Less is More: Spirituality for Busy Lives (Lion 2012) and Soulfulness: Deepening the Mindful Life (Hodder 2016).
