Description

We would like to share a special invitation to MSc students to meet with world-leading researchers working in global health systems. Find out more about how this multidisciplinary field contributes to improving the delivery of healthcare in middle and low income countries.

Please also register for the keynote presentations that will be delivered by the speakers at The Blavatnik School, straight after our tea & coffee. Expert talks with Q&A begins at 5.30pm and will conclude at 6.30pm.

The speakers:

Diana Pinto

Talk: “Health system challenges in Latin America - A view from practical experience”

Diana Pinto is a Health Lead Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank. With a background in conducting research in applied health economics, she was Associate Professor at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana’s School of Medicine and Research Associate at Fedesarrollo. Diana has also worked as Health Policy Advisor to the Minister of Social Protection in Colombia, where she designed and evaluated health sector policy.

Fadi El-Jardali

Talk: Research to support health systems performance improvement in the Eastern Mediterranean

Fadi El-Jardali is a Professor of Health Policy and Systems at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Fadi’s research focuses on health policymaking, knowledge translation and governance to reporting for health systems and organisations and quality of care. He is a member of the Global Steering Committee for the WHO Evidence-Informed Policy Network and is also a recipient of the Fellowship on Evidence Informed Policy from the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research.

Tomás Pantoja Calderon

Talk: Improving health in Latin America – Supporting the use of evidence in health systems decision making: the case of EVIPNet Chile

Tomás Pantoja is a specialist in Family Medicine at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He holds a MSc in Health Management from Imperial College London and a MSc in Health Care based on Evidence from the University of Oxford. His research areas are focused on adult clinical care, control of chronic pathologies (hypertension, diabetes), and evidence-based medicine and he has recently helped lead the development of a set of overviews of systematic reviews to support evidence informed policy and programmes and their implementation.
