Event description

Description

Join us for a series of three 90-minute talk-and-sample sessions exploring the radical developments in pattern design and techniques that characterise the first three decades of the 20th century. In our final 2018 short course, we delve into a dynamic period, during which time textile arts began to flourish and industrial production was transformed by the introduction of computer-aided looms and digital printing. Selected topics include:

Wednesday 26th September 2018 - The transition from Pop to nostalgic styles, detailing the dramatic impact of textile/fashion designers such as Laura Ashley, Zandra Rhodes and Georgina von Etzdorf.

Wednesday 24th October 2018 - An in-depth look at Sanderson and its democratisation of the “designer look” in interiors, as well as its preservation of the William Morris brand.

Wednesday 28th November 2018 - The rise of textile crafts and their emergence as arts in their own right, through a study of works by Alice Kettle, Rozanne Hawksley and Greyson Perry.

Ticket entitles one person into ALL THREE EVENTS on the Autumn Short Course.
