Event description

Description

A FREE full day workshop packed with learning about how to identify the main tree species in autumn, especially those in hedgerows and how they fit into the landscape history context. We will also look at hedgerow autumn food stocks for wildlife (seeds, nuts, berries) and how you can use these features to identify hedgerow species.

The day will be led by Gerry Barnes (Senior Research Associate, School of History, UEA) and Martin Sanford [Suffolk County Recorder for Flowering Plants].

MEET:  Meet for a 10am start at a location to be confirmed on the edge of Kenninghall village, Breckland. Map and parking instructions will be emailed out once you have signed up.

BRING: Other than in health and safety below it would be useful to your learning to bring a notebook and pen for notes on ID and for recording the species you see.  Binoculars and a camera are always useful.  Please bring your own lunch.

HEALTH AND SAFETY: Remember to wear sensible clothing, including shoes and long trousers to avoid bites, stings and ticks.  Bring plenty of water and food if you require. PLEASE KEEP DOGS ON LEADS AT ALL TIMES IF YOU BRING ONE.
