In November, Remembrance month we are pleased to announce our guest speaker is Dr Tessa Dunlop who will be talking about her research for her latest book.

Tessa Dunlop travelled the length and breadth of the UK on a quest to uncover a story of national warring and national mourning, of fighting each other and fighting together for her most recent book Lest We Forget: War and Peace in 100 British monuments. Amidst a stellar cast of interviews including Falklands hero Simon Weston and HRH Duke of Kent and a history that spanned 2000 years, she explored the start point of an extraordinary Great British brand in the wake of Nelson and Wellington's victories over Napolean. Phallic monumentation became a national glue - one that has not always stood the test of time. These days Glasgow's Wellington is anti-Establishment, the Wellington Arch has long since lost its Iron Duke and Dublin detonated Nelson in the 1960s but some memorials are just too big to argue with.......

Dr Tessa Dunlop is the author of several World War Two oral histories - Sunday Times best selling Century Girls, Bletchley Girls and Army Girls. She makes frequent television appearances in royal history documentaries and is co-host of the podcast Where Politics Meets History with Iain Dale. Lest We Forget: War and Peace in 100 British Monuments is her fifth book.
