Event description

Description

Learn how to identify the edible plants and mushrooms available in autumn and cook up tasty wild treats over a campfire. The day will involve harvesting and preparing, as well as learning about plant folklore, nutrition and medicine. We will also be exploring the uses of plants and mushrooms for bushcraft purposes such as fire lighting.

We'll be using all our senses to get to know the plants and mushrooms; expect lots of tasting and hands-on learning, as well as some quiet time for observation and reflection.

At lunch time we will together cook up a range of dishes to share; expect a feast!

The cost for the day is £60 or £45 for a low/unwaged ticket (plus booking fee). Handouts, lunch, hot drinks and snacks all included, with vegan and gluten free options available.

You will be guided through the day by Live Wild's Leonie Morris - qualified Bushcraft Instructor & Wild Food Teacher and Sophie Wren - Forager & Wild Food Experimenter. The seasonal abundance and beauty of the woodland, wetland and hedgerow habitats surrounding our camp will the perfect way to unwind, nourish and connect with your wild side!

This course will be held in the unique setting of Callis Community Gardens in Hebden Bridge, a beautiful area of wild land next to the Rochdale canal. Callis is managed by a committed group of volunteers for the benefit of wildlife and community.

Please email us at info@livewild.org.uk if you have any access requirements or if you have any other questions.

We look forward to seeing you in the woods!
