Wreaths have a long history in many cultures from head dresses worn by the Greek, Roman and Persian empires that symbolized power and authority, to Pagan, German and Scandinavian cultures who used wreaths to honour the sun and the promise of spring. And farmers often used harvest wreaths made of wheat to protect their crops. The circle shape symbolised eternity and the evergreen leaves signify hope and life. Learn about the history of wreaths and more with Silvie.
Your wreath will last the entirety of the winter season even if kept outdoors, you can then compost it, or save and re-use the woven base for next year.
The Northern Roots charity is creating the UK's largest urban farm and eco-park on 160-acres of urban green space in Oldham. All money raised is put back into the Northern Roots project, supporting our vision for an urban green space that benefits people, planet and place. Learn more here.
