Event description

Description

Join us on the banks of the River Ribble at Preston's grand Victorian park for a relaxed walk and a nourishing picnic, taking in some of the finest Wild Foods that grow all around us.

We will meet on the grass to the front of the Pavillion (Look for a small group with at least one basket) with vegan seasonal soup for all and a quick check-in. After this we will explore the park and connected green spaces, learning how to identify and safely gather the wild bounty. We hope to meet a large range of greens, buds, flowers, fruits, leaves, pollen, trees, perhaps some nuts, seeds and if we're very lucky: some mushrooms! After working up an appetite exlploring the park, we will return to base to cook up some finds and sample from an array of dishes as well as the large array of preserved wild food & drink I will also bring. Among these will be powders, pollen, pickles, dried things, pesto, teas, pate, syrups, and much more. While we eat I will talk about the foods infront of us and there will be further opportunity to learn more about Wild Foods - When to pick, how to pick and what to do with your pickings.

Please let us know of any dietary needs or allergies in advance on booking.

Please note that this event is suitable for anyone with wheels (Prams, scooters, chairs etc).

Bring a basket, a drink, maybe some paper and plastic bags. A knife or some scissors may be handy as may a camera, notebook and hand lens.
