Event Details

This workshop will provide strategic and practical guidance to help you create an HR strategy, policies and processes to ensure staff stress and mental ill health is effectively managed and legally compliant. Our expert facilitators understand that a key consideration will be how your strategy can contribute to business success and improve the employer brand. Points for discussion during this interactive workshop will include:

• Maria will explain the employer’s obligations under employment legislation on providing a safe working environment and complying with the Equality Act 2010. Preventing legal claims will form part of this guidance

• Maria will encourage attenders to work through examples on how to improve staff wellbeing through stress risk management and improved practices

• David will show how to support both employees and the organisation through improving the management of stress and mental ill health, while building a culture of trust in which managers feel confident when asking staff about their wellbeing

• David, as a qualified mental health counsellor, will provide examples of the ways in which this will improve employee engagement, productivity and efficiency. He will demonstrate how organisations can move to “it's okay not to be okay”. He will help those attending to explore how to remove the mental health stigma.
This event forms part of a series under the running title "Highs and Lows of HR" offering members a range of topical subjects for both generalists and specialists. You will be supporting your Continuing Professional Development because through working with the facilitators, you will understand how to be:
• Purposeful: designing and managing effective processes which benefit employees and the organisation
• Agile: working with the latest theories on effective management of stress and mental ill health
• Collaborative: learning from good practices in organisations
• Expert: explaining the HR legal issues
