Awaab’s Law Series: Embedding Awaab’s Law in Property Services
Overview
Introduction
This new three part webinar series gets under the skin of the legislation. We’ll look at what’s happening on the ground, the operational realities, the cultural shifts, the unexpected hurdles and we’ll hear directly from members and partners who are already navigating the change. Expect honest insights, practical takeaways, and space to share what you’re learning too.
We’re pleased to be delivering this series in partnership with Raven Housing Trust, chaired by Natalie Flageul, Executive Director of Customer Experience at Raven, alongside DIN’s Property Channel Lead, Annemarie Roberts. Natalie oversees service delivery for residents and communities, including responsive repairs, and brings deep experience from her time at SSE Energy Services where she used customer insight to drive real behavioural and cultural change.
What You'll Learn
You’ll learn how Awaab’s Law is reshaping approaches to stock condition, diagnostics, and repairs at scale. The session will help you think through how to prioritise investment, reduce repeat damp and mould cases, and manage operational pressure within finite resources. You’ll leave with practical examples of asset-data use, service redesign and repair pathways you can adapt in your organisation.
Our speakers
Matthew Platt, Director of Property Services at Progress Housing, will bring a property and asset-based perspective to Awaab’s Law looking at what the legislation means for stock condition, repairs delivery, and long-term investment planning.
With responsibility for the strategic and operational management of Progress Housing’s property services, Matthew oversees everything from responsive repairs and planned maintenance to compliance and asset stewardship. This frontline visibility gives him clear insight into how damp and mould cases emerge, how they’re resolved, and where systemic improvements are needed to meet the new statutory timeframes. His experience places him in a strong position to discuss the operational pressures, data challenges, and cultural shifts required to embed Awaab’s Law in day-to-day service delivery.
Progress Housing Group provides more than 11,000 homes across Lancashire and the North, with a long-standing commitment to safe, well-maintained properties and strong customer service. The organisation has been investing in its asset data, diagnostic processes and repair pathways to strengthen its response to damp and mould and reduce repeat cases.
Matthew will share how these changes are playing out across their stock, the lessons learned so far, and what other providers might consider as they balance customer expectations, resource constraints and the realities of implementation.
Russell Grainge, Director of Assets at Habinteg will share their experience and learnings from implementing Awaab’s Law.
Habinteg Housing Association is a UK-based social housing provider with over 50 years of experience championing accessible and inclusive homes. They manage more than 3,300 properties across 86 local authorities in England, with a strong focus on enabling independence and community inclusion for disabled and non-disabled people alike.
Who should attend?
This series is designed for housing association professionals who are directly involved in implementing Awaab’s Law and tackling damp and mould. It will be particularly relevant for property and asset management teams, compliance and health & safety officers, and customer experience leads who oversee service delivery. Senior leaders and board members will also benefit from understanding the operational challenges, emerging practices, and lessons being shared across the sector.
