AWAD, the Association of Women Art Dealers, is pleased to invite you to 'Managing for Success' Business Planning for Art Dealers and Gallerists, a 2-hour workshop that will look at the key questions art dealers, gallerists, or any business in the creative industries, need to ask themselves:
1 - What is your definition of success? In particular, what is the balance between creative/artistic success and business success that is right for you?
2 - What are your sales goals for 2015? Consider different types of collectors as well as artists you work with currently; also locations if you are spread geographically and exhibit in different cities/countries. Also new vs. old business and
3 - What resources do you need to secure to achieve your 2015 goals?
- Cash – how much and when? Identifying and addressing cashflow issues
- Continuation – what percentage of your sales goal can be met by sales to existing clients?
- Consistency – are your artists in a place where their work rate and quality will be sufficient to meet your growth goals?
- Clout – will your current stable of artists generate sufficient demand from the market? (editorial, curatorial, collectors)
- Conversion – what public sector and private collector potential can you convert into new client relationships?
4 - What do last year’s sales tell you about who your best clients are?
5 - What is the balance between more of the same vs. new and different? Inc. considerations of continuity vs. change in your exhibition programme? In your art fair plans? Online? In your portfolio of artists? Or in the set of collectors
This workshop will provide answers to the above questions – and much more.
The workshop will be delivered by Sarah Thelwall, an independent strategist who has been working with creative entrepreneurs for over a decade as a consultant, business development coach and trainer.
