Awaken Your Potential - Blessing Empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni
Sat 16 - Sun 17, March 2019 with Kadam John
More than 2,500 years ago, Buddha Shakyamuni opened the door to enlightenment. What he revealed in that moment – the sublime state of boundless happiness, freedom and the compassionate ability be of limitless benefit to others – is still available to all of us, right now.
In a world where stress, depression and dissatisfaction are increasingly common, we often experience a lot of unhappiness and see ourselves as limited and ordinary. It is this limited view of our self that is the source of all our suffering, discouragement and problems.
This Empowerment is a blissful and inspiring opportunity to develop a close connection with Buddha’s teachings to awaken our pure potential and the power within our mind.
Kadam John will give a commentary to the Liberating Prayer – Praise to Buddha Shakyamuni. Through this prayer we can understand how relying upon one's Supreme Unchanging Friend we can protect ourselves from inner and outer problems and eventually traverse to the path to enlightenment.

FAQs
What is an empowerment?
When you come to an empowerment, from one point of view it’s like coming to a normal class. The teacher will give an introduction to the topic, will introduce the particular Buddhist deity and will then guide a long, wonderful meditation. It’s in that meditation that we receive the empowerment.
The empowerment itself is really an ancient ritual that’s been handed down from Buddha himself to his disciples who became teachers in turn who handed it down to their disciples. So it’s a transmission, we’re entering into a transmission.
What will each session consist of?
Each session will include a combination of teachings and guided meditations with an opportunity to discuss during the break time.
Do I need to bring anything or wear anything special?
No. You can choose to sit on chairs, or cushions if you prefer to sit cross-legged. You don’t need to bring anything else with you, but some people like to take notes during the session, so feel free to bring a paper and pen. And others like to bring some offerings, feel free to do so or not.
What if I’m new to this?
Everyone is welcome to participate in this empowerment and will benefit both new and experienced people alike. Our reception staff will happily recommend some follow-on reading or classes after the empowerment if you are interested.
