About this event
- Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes
Last year, CSE Aware engaged with frontline staff on the issue of commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) resulting in a report and a briefing. This work recognised the vulnerability of women with learning disabilities to this form of abuse and emphasised the need for accessible information explaining what CSE is.
We are delighted to launch the first Easy Read booklet on this issue. This was developed with input from both women with lived experience of learning disability and frontline staff, and we worked closely with a designer to create unique illustrations. The result is a first-of-its-kind Easy Read booklet, which can be used by anyone looking to understand and/or share information about commercial sexual exploitation and where to get support.
Agenda
This event will offer a discussion on the development of this booklet. It will also feature invited speakers who contributed to its development, including the Scottish Commission for Learning Disability, People First Scotland and Create Pod - the designer behind this resource. We will also present a video version of the booklet.
Who can attend?
This event is open to women with lived experience, frontline workers, support services, and individuals interested in CSE. It will be of particular interest to those working in, or linked to services related to, violence against women; disability, sexual health and relationships; substance use; housing; mental health; criminal justice; public health; adult support and protection; and social work.
Please note this event is funded through Delivering Equally Safe and follows the Scottish Government’s approach to commercial sexual exploitation as a form of gender-based violence. The event will address women’s experiences from this perspective.
