In this workshop Lou will explain her method of keeping experiemental sketchbooks full of abstract patterns. She will talk about how ideas form, develop and grow and how she goes about transferring patterns into finished screen prints.

You'll each receive your own square, spiral-bound sketchbook, handmade by Lou, to use during the workshop and to take away with you. All other materials will also be provided.

We'll explore how dots, lines and circles can be built up into complex patterns by repeating simple sets of rules, and how variety can be introduced by changing rules between one drawing and the next, and even within drawings.

Lou will have a selection of her sketchbooks and drawings on hand for inspiration, as well as her finished screen prints which you'll be able to view in the gallery.
