Are you new to camping or feel held back from trying it out? Fear not! This camping trip could be just what you've been looking for!

Kate and Eleanor are passionate about the outdoors and dedicated to making it accessible to everyone. With a wealth of experience and boundless enthusiasm, they'll guide you through every step of the journey.

What to Expect

  • Introduction to Camping | Learn the basics from scratch!
  • Gear Guidance | Discover what equipment you truly need and how to set it up.
  • Outdoor Ethics | Understand the Outdoor Access Code and essential requirements.
  • Choosing the Perfect Spot | Explore the art of finding an ideal camping location.
  • Food & Fire | Delve into meal prep and safe campfire practices together
  • Nature Immersion | Take a leisurely foraging/ nature walk and absorb the beauty of the surrounding environment.
  • Campfire Tales | Gather 'round for storytelling and camaraderie under the stars.

Travel to meeting point - We encourage you to:

  • Grab the bus to Currie and walk up the Harlaw Reservoir car park
  • Cycle up
  • Or car share (I will be happy to support in coordination of the car share)

Meeting point: Harlaw Reservoir car park | VMGR+53, Balerno EH14 7FA

Meeting time: Saturday, 4th of May | 11am

End time: Sunday, 5th of May | 11am

What to bring: We do have a few of the items below, so if you do not have certain items, please let us know and we will do our best to support you on this.

Camping equipment

  • Tent
  • Roll mat
  • Sleeping bag
  • Pillow

Clothing

  • Warm cosy clothing (you may want to bring a secondary clothing in a plastic bag in case your clothes get wet)
  • Waterproofs (jacket and trousers)
  • Walking boots (preferable waterproof - or a second pair of appropriate footwear in case it rains)
  • Swimwear and towel (there is a reservoir if you would like to go for a swim)

Other camping equipment/needs

  • Your own camping mug/flasket
  • Medication
  • food /snacks (if you have any allergies/dietary requirements that we may not be able to support)
  • Camping trowel (we will be ‘wild camping’ - nature will be your toilet for the trip, but we can’t stress enough about leaving no trace)

What will be provided:

  • Lunch, dinner and breakfast (these will be basic vegetarian/vegan. You know your own body and what it needs, so please feel free to bring your own food items)
  • We have some camping equipment if you need it
  • X4 tents (this may mean you may need to share a tent with someone else if borrowing)
  • 11 sleeping bags
  • 3 or 4 roll mats
  • Bin bags
  • Fire building equipment
  • ID books

We want to ensure that the workshops and events that we host are accessible for all. If you feel you are unable to afford the price of a “pay what you can” ticket, please let us know and we will do what we can to support you.
