B-TASC (Barts Transfer & Simulation Course)
Mon 24 April 2017, 08:30 – 17:00 BST
A high fidelity, fully immersive simulation course, designed to equip candidates with core skills to deliver safe and timely intra- and inter-hospital transfers. This multidisciplinary course is open to Anaesthetic trainees of all levels with a minimum requirement of the Initial Assessment of Competency (IAC) and to Operation Department Practitioners (ODPs) and Critical Care Nurses in order to simulate a real-to-life multidiscpilinary transfer team. The expert faculty provide talks and workshops on a range of transfer topics and specialist neuro-critical, aortic/cardiac, paediatric and ECMO considerations for transfer. There is also an equipment troubeshooting and ambulance familiarisation session. This course provides a unique opportunity for candidates to gain first-hand experience of the many possibilities and problems which can arise during transfer of a critically ill patient. The small group structure and the highly skilled debriefing sessions stimulate a great learning opportunity for all. The course closely follows all aspects of the RCoA syllabus for transfer medicine and allows an opportunity for WBPAs to be signed off. Sign up as faculty for two Foundation Year or Medical Student Courses to attend this course for free (£50 refundable deposit on attendance).
