Backing Boris
Event Information
About this Event
On the 23rd of July, Boris Johnson became the UK’s Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party. What followed was a lot of backlash online, against him, his party and the new government he was forming. For many, this was inevitable, finally the bubbly adorable Englishman has attained the highest office in the land. For others though, his rhetoric and behaviour is indicative of the racist and bigoted nature of the the UK parliamentary system. Any other time, this would have been a great debate but with Brexit dominating the headlines we ask, should we be backing Boris? Now more than ever we need to show a united front. But, is Boris just too divisive for us to unite behind. Join us for an evening of fun discussion and debate as we consider how we treat our new Prime Minister. Theresa May's parting words were that she hopes we treat the new Prime Minister kinder than we did her, lets see how long this lasts.
Join The Common Sense Network on the 30th of August from 5.30pm to discuss if we, the general public, should be backing the new leader of our country, especially in the run up to our exit from the EU? Do we need/want another general election? What about all previously made comments by Boris Johnson, do we need to take those into account despite the fact that he "appointed more people of colour to the cabinet in 24 hours than all his predecessors" in the past 300 years. Come and share your opinions, views and learn more from the opposite side.

The Common Sense Network
The Common Sense Network (TCS Network) is a bipartisan news network dedicated to improving the way millennials consume digital journalism. In an increasingly divided and polarised world, we create online and offline spaces for millennials to engage with differing opinions, thoughts and ideas. By breaking people out of their echo chambers, the Common Sense Network allows for a space to exist where people can talk to each other, not about each other, thereby creating a common ground for conversation. A move away from polarised media is the only way we can move away from extremism and finally achieve common sense.
