This course is aimed at anyone interested in surveying for badgers, including early career ecologists, conservationists and land managers. The following topics will be covered during an online tutorial:
- identification and ecology of badgers
- legislation protecting them
- survey standards and techniques
- mitigation measures and licensing
- persecution
The online tutorial will also cover practical tips on habitat assessment, levels of disturbance badgers will tolerate, and the need for good surveys.
All proceeds from the course will go to supporting our endangered species conservation work.
There is also a ‘bespoke’ ticket option, for which we will set you up with the tutorial on any date of your choosing.
Tutor: Holly Stanworth
Please note this online course is the same as the online content provided as part of the longer hybrid course we offer on Badger ecology.
About the tutor
Holly has 15 years experience in ecological consultancy, she has first hand experience of completing badger surveys, designing and implementing appropriate mitigation, and managing habitats for this species. She is now a Conservation Officer at The Species Recovery Trust, works as a freelance ecologist, and is very passionate about conserving our rarest and most protected species.
Schedule
The video will be available to attendees for a 24 hour period (from 5pm the night before) and lasts just over two hours.
Four days prior to the course you should receive an email with all the joining details on. It appears that several work-based servers are spamming messages from Eventbrite, so if you have not heard from us by then, please check your spam folder, and the email address you used for the booking. In the event you can't find the email please be in touch.
Course certificate
This course can be used as part of your Continuing Professional Development (CPD). We invite attendees to download their own certificate and complete the numbers of hours spent on the course, as we are aware some attendees spend more time reading up about courses before the day, and writing their notes up and reading aroudn the subject afterwards. The hours on your certificate should accurately reflect this time.
