**SOLD OUT - PLEASE JOIN THE WAITING LIST TO BE INFORMED OF ANY NEW DATES ADDED**

To celebrate Scottish Badger Week, the Where's Wildlife in Ayrshire? Project is excited to be working in partnership with Scottish Badgers - Ayrshire Branch to run this event.

Badgers are part of the mustelid family and are unmistakable, stalky build with a grey back, short fluffy tail and the familiar black and white striped face. Unfortunatley these shy creatures are most likely to be seen dead by the roadside by the general public.

We would like to offer a small group the opportunity to watch Badgers first hand.

We will meet in Dunlop Train Station car park where we will disucss key issues such as health & safety and behaviour around badger setts. We will then decant into several cars to take the 5 minute journey to the woodland edge, then make the short walk to the sett to watch out for Badgers emerging from the sett at dusk.

This event will provide a starting point for anyone interested in starting to record Badgers and to start to develop their survey skills. No previous experience is necessary - just a keen interest in nature and an enjoyment of seeing and identifying the wildlife around you.

****** NUMBERS ARE VERY LIMITED FOR THIS EVENT ******

Notes:

The sett we plan to visit is very active, however please remember that Badgers are wild creatures and we cannot guarantee that we will see any!

The event is entirely outdoors, therefore may be subject to last minute cancellation due to weather conditions. When booking, please ensure that you provide us with a contact mobile number, this is purely to keep you informed of any last minute cancellations due to weather conditions.

We will be walking through woodland habitats which are uneven and there may be inclines in places. Please bring suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear suitable for the weather conditions. If you have a flashlight it would be helpful if you bring it with you. The event is not suitable for anyone who may have mobility issues - please contact Helen Embleton on 07850081513 if you would like to discuss this further. Prior to going to visitng the sett a Health & Safety briefing will be provided.

This event is being run in partnership between the Where's Wildlife in Ayrshire? project and Scottish Badgers. This is one of 4 events that we are running in the Ayrshire area during Scottish Badger Week.

The Where's Wildlife in Ayrshire? project is kindly funded by our project partners with the aim of encouraging people to get involved in learning about local wildlife, recording sightings and collecting information about where different plants and animals live. To ensure that our funding is used in the most efficient way it is important that if you book a place, you let us know if you cannot attend this event as soon as you can.

The Where's Wildlife in Ayrshire project is funded by the Scottish Government and the European Union- Ayrshire LEADER 2014-2020 programme, Heritage Lottery Fund, East Ayrshire Council, North Ayrshire Council and South Ayrshire Council.
