BagLadyBird - Learn to Sew Shirt Dresses Workshop - Bawtry
Sat 20 May 2017, 10:00 – 15:30 BST
Join us at the latest new workshop to Learn to Sew a Shirt Dress.
You will walk away with your beautiful made by you, for you Shirt Dress, a unique garment that you can be proud that you made yourself. Find your happy place in our sewing room at St Nicholas Church Hall, Bawtry for £45 for the day.
Janome 525s sewing machines and all tools will be provided.
To give you the widest choice and allow you to create something even more personal, fabric is not included for this workshop. (However full guidance will be given on fabric requirements on booking.)
Fabric requirements: 2.5-3m of 150cm (60”) wide or 3m of 115cm (45”) wide medium weight fabric such as cotton poplin, linen, chambray or shirting.
You will create your Shirt Dress, made just for you from your own fabric. Learn how to create a yoke, collar and buttonholes. This workshop is suitable for an advanced beginner.
Patterns are made to the nearest size to your measurements, so on booking, please provide your measurements on booking (bust, waist & hips). Your pattern is available for you to buy to use again for £10 payable on the day.
You can measure in either inches or centimetres, but be consistent throughout. It is easier if you can get someone to help you measure yourself.
- To measure your bust, measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape measure parallel to the floor.
- To measure your waist, measure around the point where your body would naturally crease if you were to bend to the side.
- To measure your hips, measure around the fullest part of your bottom, keeping the tape measure parallel to the floor.
Tea, coffee & biscuits will be provided, but please bring your lunch as sewing is hungry work.
Please get in touch if you require any more info. £15 deposit secures your place. Spaces are limited to ensure everyone gets the guidance required. (Balance of £30 is payable in cash on the day.)
