Baladi Blues Ensemble Synallaboration
Sun 20 November 2016, 20:00 – 22:00 GMT
Modern urban Egyptian dance music and Classical Arabic music with integrated Art and Dance Synallaboration
The Baladi Blues Ensemble perform internationally and are the only Arabic Ensemble in Europe playing traditional Egyptian music with real instruments - rather than using a synthesiser. For this concert the Ensemble includes six members rarely seen all together in one country at once: Guy Schalom, Percussionist and band leader; Magdy Tewfik, Accordionist; Tarek Bitar, Singer and Oud Player; Ahmed el Saidi, Saxophonist; Adam Warne; darabuka and rik; Ali Iraqi; darabuka and guest Violinist. Professional dance performances by Angelina from Germany, Marie - Jose from Spain and Miriam Gita. The lively folk style of Baladi is the music of modern Egyptian Street Dance and dance enthusiasts from far and wide will be in the audience for this rare chance to get up and dance along; expect this concert to develop into a dance party as the audience get up to dance.
On this unique evening the Music is joined by Dance and Art and can be seen interpreted by the dancing of Miriam Gita and Art of Stephen Vince as part of their ongoing pioneering Art Work “Synallaboration”. The Artworks produced by the Synallaboration distil the experience evoked by the sound and movement of music and dance by combining their essence into still images. This captures the spirit of the fleeting performance in a way that describes the moment on an emotional and inspirational level.
