The Beaver Trust has generously granted us permission to screen their latest film, Balancing the Scales. The film investigates whether migratory freshwater fish can thrive in beaver-modified ecosystems. For more information see: https://beavertrust.org/our-work/balancing-the-scales/

This screening is part of our Bloomin' Brilliant BioBlitz event that will also include bioblitz-style surveys, nature and wellbeing and craft activities, and information stands with local environmental organisations. The surveys and films need to be booked but you are welcome to visit the information stands or take part in the craft activities at a time that suits you. Please check out the full itinerary for more details.

Or you could just rest or refuel at The Old Tannery!

The event has been organised by Somerset Wildlife Trust with grateful thanks to South West Heritage Trust and Friends of Brides Mound for access to their land for the surveys, and the survey leads, organisations and volunteers who have donated their time and expertise. This event is part of the Glastonbury Town Deal, which is funded by the UK Government's Towns Fund scheme, and Somerset Wildlife Trust’s Bogs and Bitterns project, which is funded by the UK Government's Species Survival Fund. The Species Survival Fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.

Frequently asked questions

Is the event suitable for wheelchairs/prams?

The indoor activities can be accessed by wheelchairs and are designed to be inclusive. The outdoor surveys and walks require participants to be able to cross rough ground. Given the high variability in off-road capabilities of different mobility aids, we advise you to use your discretion.

Can I bring my dog?

We politely ask that dogs are not brought on any of the surveys. This will reduce disturbance and increase your chances of seeing wildlife.

Can I book on more than one activity?

Yes! You will need to book a separate ticket for each activity but we would love you to make a day of it.

What if I can no longer attend?

We would be grateful if you could cancel your booking through Eventbrite or by contacting alicia.hallatt@somersetwildlife.org. This will enable us to offer the ticket to someone else rather than sending out a group with empty spaces.
