Ballet Pointe Class
Course Introduction
The Pointe Class is based on the authoritative teaching materials of Beijing Dance Academy and aligned with international ballet teaching standards. It aims to systematically help students master the skills and techniques required for classical ballet pointe work. The course content covers basic ballet postures, movement techniques, and skill training, with a focus on improving flexibility, coordination, strength, and balance.
Supported by the theoretical and practical foundation of the Beijing Dance Academy’s curriculum, the course ensures a high-quality dance training experience. It combines technical mastery with artistic expression, laying a solid foundation for students' future advanced ballet studies.
Course Objectives
Through a scientifically structured and systematic approach, this course helps students develop core ballet techniques. From basic positions, arm placements, and foot placements to complex movement combinations, students will progressively enhance their pointe control and overall body expression under the guidance of classic training methods and professional instruction. Paired with musical accompaniment, the course not only improves technical proficiency but also nurtures elegance and artistry in performance.
Target Audience
This course is designed for dancers with at least three years of basic ballet training. Through floor exercises, barre work, center practice, and fundamental dance combinations, students will strengthen their pointe control and overall body expression. Each session incorporates music to help develop musicality and improve artistic performance.
Course Content
The teaching content is adjusted according to the students' ballet foundation and includes the following:
Relevé:
In first, second, fifth, and fourth positions
With plié and straight-leg variations
Échappé:
In second and fourth positions
Passé
Glissade: Fifth position with tendu and close
Jeté: Finish in cou-de-pied
Suivi
Échappé en tournant
Assemblé soutenu
Pas de bourrée
Pas couru
Sauté in fifth position
Changement de pied: With extended legs in the air
The course structure is flexible and can be adjusted according to the students' skill levels, ensuring that every participant progresses at an appropriate pace while building their pointe technique and overall dance capabilities.
Do note there will be no class on reading week 16th February 2026.
