Creative Climate Club is a free, monthly meeting for people who care about nature and are interested in creatively responding to the world around us, our local environment, and wider climate issues.
The monthly meetings will involve creative activities which can help us care for the environment, such as:
- Creative opportunities with artists such as painting, collage, sketch-booking and photography.
- Opportunities to learn with local community experts such as bee foraging walks, pond ecology and talks about the Rive Tyne and its health.
- The chance to make a connection with local nature, wildlife and planting of urban spaces, such as a ‘garden crawl’ to local community gardens.
Over time, members of the club will collaborate to develop our next steps, identifying practical tasks like litter picks, gardening and tree planting that we’d like to collectively participate in, new places we’d like to visit and people we’d like to hear from, and creative activities we can respond with.
Held in our Front Room for ages 13+.
Bee Forage Walk - Early Autumn
Sat 27 | Sept 14:00-16:00
Join the Baltic Beekeepers for a walking tour focusing on the surprising range of plants near to Baltic which provide local bees, including our rooftop honeybees, with their nectar and pollen. On this early Autumn forage walk, we'll head East from Baltic to see some of the plants we know our bees love and see how many bees we can spot, whilst learning from the beekeepers about what's going on in the life of a honeybee at this time of year. This session will bring our new Bee Explorer* guide to life - if you don't yet have one of these free guides, you'll be able to pick yours up at the start of the club to take with you on the walk, and use it to identify some of the plants we encounter.
If you're a Creative Climate Club regular, you may have joined our last bee forage walk in April - this Autumn walk will take us in the opposite direction, at a very different time of year, so it's sure to be a different experience to the last with new sights along the way. We'd love you to join us again! Likewise, we welcome those who have never joined a Creative Climate Club before.
We'll meet in Baltic Front Room for an introduction and then venture out from there, returning at the end of the walk for a well-deserved complimentary drink.
