JOIN BAME CO-OPERATORS AT A ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION CHAIRED BY CATE TUITT CO VICE-CHAIR OF THE LONDON CO-OPERATIVE PARTY AND KEYNOTE SPEAKERS FROM THE BAME CO-OP AND LABOUR BAME MOVEMENT

SPEAKERS

Cate Tuitt  - Facilitator  Chair of event 

Co vice chair London cooperative party. Executive member of the London cooperative party. Ex officio of London labour party. Co-operative party member , GMB Trade union member. Society of Labour lawyers member. vice chair of Tower hamlets Fabians society.

Co Founder of London community credit union. Founding trustee of the London community land trust. Londons first urban land trust. Building houses in London .

Cate has also been a local  labour elected labour councillor. Chairing committees . She was the youngest at that time in her 20's in the 1990s bame female councillor elected in European history. 

Cate is trustee and board member of tower hamlets law centre.  Board member of London community land trust. She has written several pamphlets and articles and was a ministerial appointment at the Home office . Cate trained as a lawyer and worked in law firms in London. Cate is currently a post graduate student.

Cate international cooperative work includes visits to Palestine , Africa and Asia. 

Kamaljeet Jandu 

Kamaljeet Jandu is a Co-operative party member is a National Officer with GMB and is unique in having worked for both sides of industry to deliver equality outcomes.Kamaljeet was a Commissioner with the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) and chaired the London Board of the CRE, where he drove the work of the Board on ‘anti poverty and equality ‘matters.He represents BAME Labour on the National Policy Forum

June Nelson

June is a Co-operative party member. June has worked in the NHS for 24 years and as Vice Chair is committed to ensuring that BAME Labour establishes a stronger relationship with BAME communities across the UK. June is an experienced campaigner who gets on well with people from different social and cultural backgrounds. June is an active Labour Party member, a local councillor and an active BAME Trade Union member with a strong belief in socialism and equal services for everyone. June believes that delivering a strong BAME Labour is the best means of ensuring that the Labour Party reflects the wishes of BAME members. 

Unmesh Desai London assembly member - POSSIBLE TO ATTEND  DUE TO OTHER MEETINGS

Unmesh has been a member of the London Assembly since May 2016. As the Assembly Member for City and East, Unmesh represents constituents across Barking and Dagenham, City of London, Tower Hamlets and his home borough of Newham. Previously Unmesh served as a local elected labour councillor in Newham.

Ash McGregor

Ash hails from the North East of England but has lived in East London for nearly twenty years. A member of the GMB, Fabian Society and Cooperative Party, he is also a former Chair of Chinese for Labour and former Labour councillor in Tower hamlets.He has previously advised the Home Office's Policing Bureaucracy Taskforce and has advised the Department of Health's Diabetes and Cancer Tsars on health inequalities. He represents the Socialist Societies at the Party's National Policy Forum.


Turkish and Jewish friends for Labour members of the Co-operative party are also invited to contribute and we are awaiting thier confirmation. Futher details of thier names will be posted.

NETWORKING AND LIGHT REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED BEFORE AND AFTER THE ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION AND SPEAKERS CONTRIBUTIONS CO-OPERATIVE MEMBERSHIP FORMS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THOSE ATTENDEES WHO ARE NOT CURRENTLY MEMBERS
