Join BBOWT Community Network, Banbury Ornithological Society and nature expert; Nicole Clough, for a guided walk around Grimsbury Woodland and Reservoir. The aim of our community walk is to bring community volunteers together to explore similar themes, share skills and learn from each others experiences.
This 3.5ha site is a popular and well used area of Scots Pine and Alder, originally planted by the Forestry Commission, laterly enhanced by areas of varied shrubs planted by the Banbury Ornithological Society. A mixture of birds have been recorded at the site, including wintering Siskin and Lesser Redpolls and warblers in the summer.
We will explore all the work which volunteers have done to manage the woodland, plant trees, and look after the paths, grassland and hedges. We will have the opportunity to discuss how the small group of volunteers is managed and how relationships with the public are managed.
The site is close to Banbury with access from A422 and parking at Spiceball Park by Water Works.
