Banking Compassion: Professional Responses to Child Sexual Exploitation
Thu 15 June 2017, 09:30 – 17:00 BST
Banking Compassion: Professional Responses to CSE Conference Event 15th June 2017
New Place, Shirrell Heath, Hampshire, UK
Professor Jenny Pearce (OBE) (University of Bedfordshire)
Mike King (CEO, Releasing Potential)
As part of the government’s response to the 2014 Jay report, an inter-agency model for prevention, detection and disruption of child sexual exploitation has been agreed by policy makers and commissioners. While excellent training is now available at both the national and local level, effective approaches to supporting victims and at-risk children remain elusive, and conversations about practical strategies for engaging those already identified as exploited are at a very early stage.
As a provider of specialist education, Releasing Potential develops long-term relationships with victims of CSE and children at risk, requiring professional intersections with a variety of service providers and effective interactions with parents. Our interdisciplinary conference brings together a range of voices to consider practical approaches to improving service delivery to victims of CSE. Featuring workshops, case studies and training sessions, this event offers learning, development and networking opportunities for commissioners, managers and front line staff. We hope to share challenges and best practice, and to exchange solutions for supporting sexually exploited children in a variety of contexts, by drawing on the collective experience of our conference partners. We welcome delegates from children’s services and social care, the health sector, policing and criminal justice, education, parents’ groups, charities and local government.
Workshops and training will be offered by the following partners:
- Releasing Potential Specialist Education
- Institute for Outdoor Learning
- Hampshire Judiciary
- Criminal Prosecution Service
- Common Thread Residential Care & Education
- Safer London
- Portsmouth Local Safeguarding Board
- The Open University
