Description

On Wednesday 4th September 2019 we will be our AGM. This will be a CPD event open to all members with lunch provided.

The West Midlands Police Black and Asian Police Association (BAPA) was formally launch in 1997. The Association was influenced by the murder of Stephen Lawrence in 1993 and subsequent MacPherson report.
Officers and staff met to explore their reality in the police service and to share openly their feelings and experiences. The basis of these discussions was to address the disproportionately high number of black officers leaving the service and from this an informal social network was established.

Now 22nd years BAPA continues to go from strength to strength. Our mission is to work with WMP to Promote, Support, Challenge and Celebrate Diversity. This year will once again see BAPA participating in number of significant community events such as Stephen Lawrence Day, Windrush anniversary was also a significant event which Diwali, Vaisakhi, Black History Month, Remembrance Day Parade and our Christmas toy drive. Internally we will continue to support our members and others to realise their potential support to West Midlands Police build an organisation which reflects the community we serve. Further information can be found on our intranet
page https://es-onestopshop.custhelp.com/app/hubs/

Free lunch provided.

The AGM is an opportunity for members to come and be further update about the work we are doing on your behalf.

Thank you

Karen Geddes (Chair BAPA)
