Description

Barbados UK Community celebrates its unsung heroes

His Excellency Guy Hewitt, The High Commissioner to Barbados has confirmed attendance.

In 2016 Icons of our community were celebrated and honoured for their services with the presentation of the Barbados Jubilee Awards. It was felt that it was just as important to honour the men and women operating at grassroots level within our community.

This band of volunteer men and women who donate their time and effort in keeping the UK Diaspora together and in turn assisting our Island Country, whether working individually or in groups. Their fundraising activities are also instrumental in keeping community initiatives, charities and institutions afloat. Their links to similar bodies in Barbados is not only beneficial to those organisations but they also create opportunities further afield and in other sectors, for collaborative across the diaspora. In fact, it is well noted that the UK community, more than any other overseas group, is responsible for the highest proportion of remittances and property sales in Barbados.

ENTERTAINMENT: The Rainbow Steelband and Bajan Voices - with VIP guests invited - the event will take place in the Banqueting Suite, which looks over the Cricket Pitch
