Event Details

SOLD OUT! The Guinea Pig version is deliberately a small group at a cheap rate - I'm afraid all tickets are now gone. The first "proper" version, tweaked according to feedback on this initial course, will run in January -

Details will finalise during November / early December (as the "guinea pigs" go through the course!), but bookings are open now...

Are you a librarian new to teaching? Or just never been shown some basic teaching mechanics that'll take your teaching to the next level?

Have you survived (most of) the Autumn term and want to make sure you find next time easier?!

This online course covers some of the "Barebones" of teaching. We look at: Learning Objectives; Lesson Plans; Assessment; Evaluation and some related issues. We'll give practical help and templates to use in your own teaching sessions, with particular emphasis on "one-shot" teaching sessions. It will run in Moodle,  and I'm planning on it being asynchronous - everyone logs on when they want to! Depending on your feedback during the course, we might throw in occasional optional synchronous sessions though, where we can meet together at the same time... this first iteration will develop as we go depending on what you find most useful!

We won't cover how to actually teach or how people learn (no learning theories) - just the mechanics you need to make your existing teaching approaches better and to carry on improving.

This is the "Guinea Pig" version of the course - it will be at a reduced cost (probably half the final cost) as we work out what content will be most useful to you! It will also be limited numbers in this first iteration. We'll then re-run the course in future, adapted according to your feedback.

The course is online only spread over a 4 week period - each week will have a different set of learning objectives and will only be released (ie visible) from the start of that week.

In signing up for the course, you agree to access the course materials each week, to contribute to discussions, and to provide feedback to improve the course in future. It is expected that the average committment each week will be roughly 2 hours.

Payment just via Eventbrite - no offline payments / invoicing for this first iteration of the course!

The instructor - I'm a National Teaching Fellow and a librarian. For an idea of my activities, please take a look at my website.
