Event description

Description

A general invertebrate recording day at Barnaby's Sands and Burrows Marsh SSSI. This Lancashire Wildlife Trust managed site comprises the last extensive area of ungrazed saltmarsh on the Lancashire coast.

The emphasis is on recording invertebrates and therefore the day is not suitable for the absolute begginer bug enthusiast.

We will also be keeping a look out for the Nationally Rare aquatic bug Chiloxanthus pilosus, a saltmarsh specialist on the Tanyptera priority list that has been recorded nearby.

The terrain is challenging with deep mud across wide areas. Participants shoud be fit enough to be on their feet for the majority of the day.

Further details regarding parking etc. will be circulated a week before the day. There are no facilities near to the site.

Adults only.
