Event description
February 2020 Care Journey Network Day!

About this Event

UPDATE:

Apologies everyone – we are having to re-arrange the next care journey network day. We had originally planned it for Friday 15th November 2019 but due to some staffing changes, and some other considerations, we’ve decided to put it back until after Christmas. The new date will be Friday 7th February 2020 at the same venue in Manchester.

At the last event we had over 100 people, over 45 of whom were care experienced experts. That’s a fantastic level of commitment, we’ve had some great feedback, and some great suggestions to keep improving. So, we don’t want to run the event unless we’re sure we can keep the events at a level that will do justice to all of the work our experts, and the staff who support them, put into contributing and attending.

I will be in touch closer to the time with the programme for the day and as always, we'll support you as much as possible to attend with your care experienced experts!

Thanks for your understanding – see you in February if not before!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here at Barnardo’s we believe our young people are experts by experience, and November's Care Journey Network Day, as part of the Core Priority Programme will have our experts at the heart of it, and we would love you to be part of it again! After an incredible response back in May we are excited to invite you to our fourth event that will be in Manchester on Friday 7th February 2020 10-4pm, fitting timely just after National Care Leavers Week.

As a proud learning organisation, the Care Journey Network Day is a day for learning and sharing good practice with young people on their care journeys, discussing the big issues, and working together to promote positive opportunities for our young people on their care journeys. There will be discussions, workshops, speeches and a delicious 2 course hot lunch in the restaurant within the Manchester McDonald Hotel (unfortunately no use of the spa though!)

From May's event, we found that being more interactive, with less speakers and more workshops really worked! We had young people sharing stories, rapping, telling us what they wanted out of their future, digital workshops, a spontaneous workshop on the day with our main speaker about life as a care leaver in what turned out to be an incredible and inspiring session.

Have you attended one of our Care Journey Network Days yet? do you have something to say about good practice with care experienced young people? is there an issue that the Core Priority Programme should be looking at for our experts by experience young people? Do you know of a young person/ group of young people who have something to say that we need to hear? Get in touch (and ill stop asking so many questions)

As always we would love a large amount of care experienced young people attending so if we can help you do that (travel/accommodation/support) then please let us know!

If you feel or your young people feel there are issues that need workshopping, or want a space on a soap box please contact rachel.telfer@barnardos.org.uk or richard.haigh@barnardos.org.uk to discuss. Please watch this space for more info on the agenda for the day, workshops and themes and feel free to get in touch with any questions/issues or ideas!
